SSSI | AONB | Key Close
Tor McLaren, Managing Partner of “The Clouds Partnership” who owns the 1500 acre Clouds Estate, looked for the most environmentally friendly waste water treatment process for the family building project; rebuilding Key Close, Newtown, Isle of Wight.
The plot is within an A.O.N.B. as well as a S.S.S.I, with final treated effluent entering Causeway Lake, part of the renowned Newtown Estuary, an environmental permit was needed from the Environment Agency because of the extremely environmentally sensitive nature of the location. Natural England, who are the guardians of the Newtown River Estuary, together with the National Trust needed to be consulted by the Environment Agency prior to an environmental permit being issued. We were delighted when Tor and his architect, Henry Murray Smith, chose a Bio-Bubble Treatment Plant which will deliver zero impact on the Newtown Estuary for this project. We pride ourselves in our ability to apply the attention to detail which is required with special projects of this nature; it was these attributes which helped us win the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Sustainable Business Awards for Innovation and Technology.
