Farm conversion to Holiday Cottages | Harbour Farm
The Environment Agency were forced to acquire Harbour Farm, which is in an EU Special Protection Area, due to their responsibility in managing the water levels for the RSPB who, under EU regulations, required it to be flooded to boost rare bird populations. As a consequence of the Environment Agency’s purchase of the Farm they needed to modernise the properties and make them into saleable assets.
Given the extremely sensitive location and the need to discharge directly into Brading Marshes, south of Bembridge Harbour (formerly Brading Haven) the Bio-Bubble Advanced Aeration treatment process was the natural choice. A 20 population equivalent Bio-Bubble was installed which will virtually eliminate Ammoniacal nitrates from the final effluent; given it most likely that the future for the properties will be holiday accommodation the Bio-Bubble GSM mobile monitoring system should prove invaluable for assisting with the day to day management of the treatment plant.
Island based Civil Engineering firm Graham Attrill were commissioned to undertake the civil installation by the Environment Agency, and are well versed with the installation of the Bio-Bubble not just on the Isle Of Wight but across the south of England.
