Trinity House | Lighthouse Upgrade
Bio-Bubble plants have provided waste water treatment to a very high standard for many remote locations such as Forestry Commission Deer Larders, however, some of the most remote would be a number of Trinity House Light Houses and their associated cottages which are now mostly utilised as peaceful holiday retreats with the automation of the Lights making the light keepers redundant.
Advancements in technology, available at more affordable prices, not only made the management of light houses less hands on but also means that switching the control gear utilised for the running of component parts within the older Bio-Bubble systems could be upgraded to solid state control cutting down on component failure for old equipment. This applies more to Bio-Bubbles installed 15-20 years ago as over the last 15 years all Bio-Bubbles have been PLC controlled and solid state electronics which have proven extremely reliable.
Recently both Flamborough Head Lighthouse and Whitby Lighthouse have had their Bio-Bubble control systems modernised still using the existing tank assets installed originally. This will provide extended life to the system for years to come.
Apart from Flamborough and Whitby lighthouses, Bio-Bubbles are also installed at Start Point, St Anthony’s Head, Bull Point, Nash Point High Tower, Nash Point Low Tower and South Stack near Holyhead in Anglesey.
